Acupuncture

The style of acupuncture I practice is Five Element Acupuncture or Traditional Acupuncture.

Theory

Traditional Five Element Acupuncture is an ancient system of medicine that originated in China over 2000 years ago. Traditional Acupuncture philosophy believes that our health is dependent on the body’s motivating energy known as Qi (pronounced as ‘chi’). Qi runs throughout our bodies along a series of meridians (channels) throughout our body.

How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture works to help maintain your body’s equilibrium. When your inner balance is wrong then you may experience symptoms on a physical, mental or emotional level.

The point of Acupuncture

Acupuncture acts as both a treatment and preventative medicine. The aim of your individual diagnosis and subsequent course of treatment is to get a picture of your whole health. I will look for the root of any current problems, as well as identify any potential areas of weakness which by using acupuncture can strengthen. This goes beyond the temporary alleviation of your current symptoms.

By inserting fine needles into the channels of energy, an acupuncturist can stimulate the body’s own healing response and help restore its natural balance.

Five Element Acupuncture

Five Element Acupuncture has the potential to create for you a new way of being, thinking and feeling, to bring more vitality and an enhanced enjoyment of life.

This works by treating you, the person, not just your physical and emotional symptoms. The aim is to get to the root of the imbalance or illness.

Your body is a living library of information storing memories and emotions from life’s experience. Energy pathways known as meridians become disturbed or blocked, which can lead to emotional distress or physical illness.

The treatment works by stimulating these pathways and your body’s natural healing mechanism, bringing you back into balance, and encouraging physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
